Jo’s Coffee, the Austin coffee shop from Bunkhouse Hotels known for its coffee, breakfast tacos, and community engagement, introduced their newest location, Jo’s Houston, opened in the historic Houston Heights neighborhood on February 14.

Located on the corner of Studewood Street and East 10 1/2 Street, this is the first Jo’s Coffee location to open outside of Austin, featuring a drive-through plus indoor and outdoor seating.

Working with architect, Hip.Hop.Design Studio, who also collaborated with Bunkhouse Hotels on the interior design, the new location’s setting will boast the brand’s signature combination of industrial furniture, including custom millwork and a bar die featuring terra cotta tile from the Austin-based tile company Clay Imports. In addition to vintage pieces such as timeless Tolix Chairs, and keeping to the brand’s Austin roots, Bunkhouse Hotels also sourced custom interior and exterior furniture from RAD Furniture, a sustainably focused company that was founded down the street from the original Jo’s location on South Congress, which is a first for the brand.

The exteriors include a quaint seating area with floor to ceiling windows and the classic Jo’s red globe sign.

Since its founding in 1999, Jo’s has brewed their own blend of coffee. Currently Jo’s partners with La Colombe Coffee Roasters to develop Jo’s House Blend, a medium roast coffee with notes of milk chocolate, nuts, and honey, which can be enjoyed as a drip or espresso coffee, or in their signature drinks, such as the on-draft Iced Turbo, a beverage with coffee, espresso, hazelnut, chocolate and cream.

Jo’s Houston will also be introducing a new signature drink exclusive to this location, The Bungalow, inspired by the architecture of the Houston Heights neighborhood, with vanilla, cayenne, cinnamon, espresso, and milk.

Beyond the drink selection including soft liquors such as craft beers and frosé, Jo’s Houston will serve their breakfast tacos, as well as fresh, locally made pastries.

Jo’s Houston marks the eighth location of Jo’s Coffee, including seven locations in Austin: the original next to Hotel San José in South Congress; Downtown Austin on 2nd Street; Austin Bergstrom International Airport; Red River in Hancock; South Austin; Texas Children’s Hospital; Symphony Square. Jo’s House Coffee Blend by La Colombe is also poured at most of the Bunkhouse Hotels, including the Austin properties, Hotel San José, Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin Motel, Hotel Magdalena, and Carpenter Hotel, along with San Antonio’s Hotel Havana, San Francisco’s Phoenix Hotel, and the hospitality brand’s newest boutique, Hotel Saint Augustine in Houston.

“As our first Jo’s Coffee location outside of Austin, this is a huge milestone for us. Having just opened Hotel Saint Augustine in Montrose, and leading into our next project, Hotel Daphne – also in the Heights neighborhood – later this year, it’s clear that we have fallen in love with the Bayou City, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about sharing our beloved Jo’s brand with Houstonians.” said Lisa Bonifacio, President,
Bunkhouse Hotels.

Jo’s Houston is located at 1023 Studewood Street, Houston, Texas, 77008 and is open 7 am – 7 pm.
