It appears as though a home in Mansfield will be remodeled into a restaurant. The house on the corner of South Main and East Kimball is expected to undergo a makeover, remodeling the single-story residence into a Veracruz Cafe, according to a recent project filing.

Veracruz Cafe currently offers its menu of MesoAmerican, Mayan, Huasteco, and Aztec cuisine at several locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex – Dallas’ Bishop Arts District, Midlothian, and The Ranch at Cedar Hill.

According to the brand’s website, Veracruz Cafe specializes in dishes from the state of Veracruz, Mexico and draws from multiple culinary influences including Tex-Mex and indigenous cuisine from Veracruz and its port.

The menu offers blue corn enchiladas, Xalapa-style chile rellenos, and a variety of seafood dishes including red snapper, shrimp, and scallops. Diners can also savor several options of queso, quesadillas, or nachos. Flautas, tacos, soups, and salads are also available to enjoy.

The tequila selection is extensive. Margaritas, cocktails such as the Horchata Jarocha with Horchata rice milk and vanilla cinnamon infused rum, beer, and wine are also featured on the bar menu.

The filing states the remodel at 209 S Main St. in Mansfield could kick off this summer and wrap up in late 2023. There’s no word on when the new Veracruz Cafe might open to begin serving Mansfield area diners.
