The nation’s top fast-casual Chinese food chain is continuing to spread pure panda-monium across the DFW region. Panda Express has filed plans to begin construction on a new McKinney area location later this year.
The restaurant will be going in at the intersection of West University Drive and Lake Forest Drive. According to paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the ground-up new construction will occupy 2,697 square feet. Construction will begin this summer; the TDLR documents state that the project will begin on July 10, 2025, and is set to wrap by July 10 of next year.
Panda Express fills a unique role in the American fast-casual dining scene. While there are ample concepts serving burgers and fries, there are far fewer doling out orange chicken and fried rice. Founded in California in 1983, Panda Express is the undisputed leader of the Chinese-American fast-casual scene.
The chain has spread to include more than 2,300 locations globally; this year alone Panda Express has launched plans to open several new storefronts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
