The city of Murfreesboro continues to grow with new restaurants and retail chains expanding in the booming market daily. The latest to join the ranks, according to recent permits, is fried chicken chain Slim Chickens. The brand will open its second location in Murfreesboro this summer, at 3261 Memorial Blvd.
The opening goal of the restaurant was initially set for the end of July, however, construction timelines may push this date back further to the end of summer. An exact date has not yet been announced.
The store will be owned and operated by a local hospitality group, Houchens Food Group, a subsidiary of Houchens Industries, which operates in over 11 different industries including grocery, convenience stores, construction, and owns 50 restaurants with seven franchise brands, including the current location of Slim Chickens in Murfreesboro at 229 N. Thompson Lane.
“We are excited to serve the Middle Tennessee community in a greater way, and share our love for Slim Chickens with Murfreesboro!” Savannah Watkins of Houchens Food Group told What Now Nashville in an email.
The brand is known for its Southern-inspired chicken and waffles, tenders, wings, and sandwiches, using 100% all-natural, hand-breaded chicken. Its menu also includes milkshakes, wraps, salads, and a kid’s menu.
