The Studio City Neighborhood Council Land Use Committee Wednesday evening will review developer Midwood Investment & Development‘s plans for a 520-unit apartment project to replace the Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel on Ventura Boulevard, the committee’s agenda shows.
Under Midwood’s plans, which were first announced in August, the existing nearly 60-year-old, 190-room hotel would be demolished to make way for three low- to mid-rise buildings at 12805 – 12835 Ventura Blvd. and 4218 – 4220 Coldwater Canyon Ave. in Studio City. The project site is just east of The Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge, a roughly 98,000-square-foot shopping center development by Midwood.
Plans on file with the city of Los Angeles call for three buildings ranging in height from two to eight stories and combining to hold 171 studio apartments, 140 one-bedrooms, and 209 two-bedrooms, along with about 46,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The developer would reserve 78 apartments for very low-income households. The development would also provide about 80,000 square feet of open space and recreational amenities throughout the project site, including outdoor courtyards and pool space.
Designs for The Residences at Sportsmen’s Lodge are being led by design architect Marmol Radziner, architect of record MVE + Partners, and landscape architect OLIN, plans show.
The development would provide 1,385 automobile parking spaces in a three-level underground garage, as well as 264 bicycle spaces.
