Caribbean Haven is opening a fourth location in Thousand Oaks, located at 593 N Moorpark Road, Suite A.
The new Caribbean Haven Thousand Oaks will have 84 seats split between the main dining room and bar area, while the outdoor patio will accommodate 30 guests, according to a press release. The company announced a third location coming to Oxnard, called The Haven at Whitesails, which is expected to open in April 2022. Owner Hutton “Bobby” John hopes to open the new Caribbean Haven Thousand Oaks in May 2022. Both locations will add a full bar and a cocktail menu alongside John’s refined Caribbean cuisine with vegan options.
Caribbean Haven Thousand Oaks will feature familiar Caribbean dishes like Jerk Plates and Curries, as well as delicious vegan offerings like Rasta Curry Pasta and Open-Faced Roti. Crafted burgers and sandwiches will be available, featuring an island-style twist like the Jerk Tri-Tip Sandwich and the Oxtail Burger. All sauces, dressings, and desserts will be made in-house and from scratch.
Originally from Guyana, John sought to bring the traditional dishes from the Caribbean diaspore and his homeland to the vibrant Southern California food scene. He noticed a lack of restaurants representing his background, while every urban area seemed to have numerous Chinese, Thai, American, European, and Indian options. He began first with a catering business, followed by the opening of Caribbean Haven in Ventura in 2017. In no time, the Ventura community responded with rave reviews to the vibrant cuisine and delicious options at the restaurant.
“To look back at when I first started with my catering business and to see the growth we’ve had has been so rewarding,” John said in a press release. “All of our experiences have provided us valuable lessons as we look forward to joining and serving another community.”
