Yama Seafood Looks to Open Second Location in Mar Vista

Yama Seafood, known for its sushi, sake, and attitude, is looking to expand to a new location in Mar Vista, located at 11709 W. National Blvd.

EJL Entertainment (The Kohno Family), which made an investment into Yama Seafood to help strengthen its business, has submitted documents to the City of Los Angeles Planning Department to open a new 2,064 square-foot restaurant in the former home of Champagne French Bakery Cafe. Once plans are approved, the company will be expanding to a second location, offering fresh sashimi, sake, and sushi rolls. The new Yama Seafood will sit between a Chipotle Mexican Grill and a Starbucks.

Not much information about this new restaurant/ marketplace is known other than what the proposed documents offer. According to floor plans from the restaurant, the proposed hours will be from 10 am to 11 pm daily. The new restaurant will have 14 indoor seats with six outdoor seats. A few items to be found at this new location include Japanese strawberry soft serve ice cream, Ikura (salmon roe), and various Japanese snacks.

Yama Seafood currently operates from San Gabriel at 911 W. Las Tunas Dr. Mr. Yama opened the seafood restaurant in 1984. He enlisted the Kohno family to continue the impressive legacy that he provided to his community for the past 30 years. Now, the family gets ready to continue honoring Mr. Yama’s legacy by potentially opening a second location.
