Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has submitted new documents to open a 24-hour restaurant in Hollywood, located at 7001 W. Santa Monica Blvd.

The proposed 9,300 square-foot restaurant will also feature a drive-in movie theater and EV charging stations, according to documents submitted to the Los Angeles Planning Department. This is the latest development since the concept was first announced last year. Although nothing is official, this proves the Austin-based company is pushing forward with the Tesla drive-in restaurant. This all began when owner Elon Musk tweeted the idea in 2018, sparking speculation for years.

This development comes after a new Santa Monica Supercharger location opened earlier this year. This location at 1421 Santa Monica was initially slated to have this restaurant and theater, but plans have changed. Reports suggest the new restaurant will have a futuristic look. There is no set opening date for the new Hollywood location, as plans still must be approved by the city before anything happens.

If this is approved, this will be the company’s first time entering the restaurant industry. This is a massive achievement for the electric car company, which is approaching its 20th anniversary. The company continues to prove it’s constantly pushing forward in terms of boundaries within a company, despite recent reports of the stock closing at its lowest since late July. Tesla’s stock fell more than six percent recently following allegations of sexual misconduct against Musk.
