B&T’s Deli, a new plant-based sub-sando concept by married duo Brittany and Terrence Caldwell, is coming to 912 Montana Avenue in Santa Monica at the former Greens Up! space.

The Caldwells describe their incoming eatery as “casually gourmet” and make a romantic effort, via the B&T’s website, to access that very certain deli nostalgia we all know and love: a crowded space warm with bodies, “take a number” paper tickets, packaged pickled veggies, the worth-it wait and unstoppable belly rumble, and finally, that perfectly stacked sandwich wrapped in wax paper.

“B&T’s Deli pays homage to the old school Jewish and Italian delis we grew up going to, but modernized for today’s world,” the couple explains via Instagram. “Places like Bay Cities in Santa Monica are sacred institutions to us — they mean so much more to us than just the delicious food.”

Apparently, The Caldwells left their nine-to-five jobs some time back to travel the world, ultimately landing on B&T’s as the next logical step in their wanderlust. The two-person team tells What Now Los Angeles the deli will open in December, and they are eager to share more about the concept. Stay tuned for the full interview regarding offerings, price points, and all-around inspiration.
