Good Friend Coffee is slated to open in Virgil Village by mid-August, according to owner Max Rand

“At first, we’ll offer mostly espresso-based drinks like Americanos, lattes, cappuccinos, we’ll also have drip coffee and iced coffee. Eventually, we also want to offer pour overs,” says Rand. “We’re going to be doing a multi-roaster situation. There will be a couple different options on espresso, drip will always be something a little different, and when we get into pour overs, we’ll have multiple options of that too.”

The cafe will be using Sugarbloom as its pastry distributor and will serve bites like croissants, danishes, and cookies.

Rand was inspired to open a cafe in the neighborhood because he felt it was missing a standalone coffee place. He also often frequented Virgil Village before even thinking of starting a business, and when the space became available, he jumped on it.

“We want it to be a community watering hole where people can come and hang out for a while, post up on a laptop, meet up with friends. We’ll have a lot of seating inside and outside,” he continues.

Rand partnered with the Klein Agency to design the space, which will have pops of blues, reds, and greens. “I was really inspired by primary and secondary colors and wanted to make it feel very inviting.”

Good Friend Coffee will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
