Raising Cane’s, known for its simple menu of fried tenders, signature dipping sauce, slaw, and toast, has been approved to open a new location in Canoga Park at 7011 Topanga Canyon Blvd.

The company’s newest location is set to move into the former home of Arby’s, located down the street from Westfield Topanga. Raising Cane’s has been approved by the Los Angeles Planning Department to add 579 square feet to the existing 2,893-square-foot drive-through fast food restaurant. It’s unclear exactly when the new restaurant is expected to open, but it will have operating hours from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and stay open an extra 30 minutes on Friday and Saturday.

Creator Todd Graves founded the Baton Rouge, La.-based chicken tenders brand in 1996 in an old building that he renovated himself at the north gates to Louisiana State University’s campus. It was based on a business plan he created in college, for which he received low marks. Since then, the company has expanded throughout the country, becoming a national competition in the chicken fast-food restaurant wars. Today, there are at least 750 Raising Cane’s throughout the United States, with many more on the way.

Just last month, Raising Cane’s celebrated the grand opening of a new location in North Hollywood at 4835 Lankershim Blvd. in the North Hollywood Arts District. The company hosted a grand opening celebration to celebrate the occasion where the first 100 customers in line can also receive a free T-shirt and a boxed combo meal. There’s also a chance for 20 people to win free Cane’s food for an entire year. It’s unclear if this new Canoga Park location will feature these types of celebrations, but what is clear is that the Baton Rouge-based chicken-tenders brand has no intentions of slowing down its expansion plans.
