A recent permit filing details information about a neighborhood tavern coming to the Franklinton area. Walnut Street Tavern will be located at 500 W Walnut St and the permit is for work to be completed to convert a two-story home into a single story tavern.

As previously reported by Columbus Underground, the tavern is owned by Jim Sweeney, who got the idea to convert his home into a business during the height of the pandemic in 2020. Further information in the article described the tavern as a 750 square foot space inside, with more seating proposed outdoors in the front and back yard areas.

The article details that Sweeney is aiming for a winter opening, but that time frame is dependent on construction and the permitting process.
