Last year, What Now Memphis reported that a new international market and food hall would be coming to Cordova, and now more details about the concept have emerged.
Construction is underway for Grand Mart, an Asian market and community space at 1800 N Germantown Pkwy, in the former Life Church. Tommy Fan and Monica Truong of N&L Holdings bought the building for $9.6 million eight months ago.
According to The Daily Memphian, Fan’s vision for the space includes a vibrant blend of cultural offerings under one 60,000-square-foot roof. Distinct sections such as Chinatown, Indiatown, and Koreatown will be featured, alongside an expansive Asian supermarket with dedicated meat and seafood departments.
In addition to the market, the space will house an art gallery, an English learning center/music hub, and an upscale restaurant and bar. South Korea-based bakery TOUS les JOURS will also be a part of the development, joining the three other Greater Memphis locations currently in the works.
Grand Mart’s grocery area will span 33,000 square feet, while the remaining 27,000 square feet will be dedicated to the restaurant, bakery, food court, and other attractions.
Fan told The Daily Memphian that while restaurant details are still being finalized, he and business partner/local restaurateur He Chen are working on the concept. The eatery will be a “late-night hang-out spot” for hungry residents, with hours from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m.
Slated to open in December 2025, Grand Mart is expected to cost $7 million and create 150 jobs.
