According to recent reporting in the Orlando Business Journal, Apopka-based Three Odd Guys Brewing is planning a new spot in UnionWest at Creative Village.

Citing a Feb. 19 interview with co-owner and CFO Trod Buggs, the OBJ reports he’s “excited about adding a new location and reaching a new set of customers.”

“We’re in the final stages of trying to iron out everything,” Buggs said to the OBJ. “I’ve always wanted to have a presence in Orlando. I grew up in Orlando.”

Buggs adds that his grandfather moved from North Florida to Parramore in the 1930s which has imbued the area with significance for him.

A bureaucratic obstacle that the establishment at 601 W. Livingston St. address will have to address is the makeup of its revenue. As the brewery will be approximately 456 feet from a school, the OCPS Academic Center for Excellence, the brewery’s owners will seek an exception from city regulations in order to sell alcohol.

“To get approved, at least 51% of the venue’s gross revenue must be derived from the sale of food and non-alcoholic beverages, as per Chapter 509 of the Florida Statutes,” the OBJ reports.

Readers can expect an updated menu as Buggs and company are thinking through a menu of “Southern-inspired small dishes to complement the beers on tap.”

“Finalizing the menu will require careful deliberation, said Buggs. “We are always trying to create something new, something interesting.”

Buggs notes that the team was pulled to the area by “the presence of lots of young people living in the area and wanting to be a part of something bigger than themselves.”

“We want to create that community pub feel,” he said. “It’s about more than just sitting at a bar and drinking. It gives them a place to belong.”
