Mac’s Hospitality Group is planning to open several restaurants in the Carolinas, starting with a new dual-restaurant concept in Fort Mill, located on a 3-acre parcel on S.C. Highway 160.

The hospitality group is planning to invest $5 million in this 5,500-square-foot restaurant concept, which will feature a Mac’s Speed Shop and SouthBound side-by-side with a shared, open-air space, according to Charlotte Business Journal. While the design for the site has been approved, MHG is still working on permits for both restaurants, hoping to start construction in Summer 2023. President Tony Salemo tells the publication he hopes to have the concept open by the end of the year.

The restaurant group is working on several restaurants throughout the Carolinas. Following the opening of this dual-restaurant concept, Mac’s Hospitality Group will focus on a new 3,000-square-foot location of SouthBound in Greensboro, expected to open in July 2023. It will be located next to Mac’s on Battleground Avenue. After this, the group will turn their attention to Moorseville, where a location of Mac’s restaurant is expected to begin construction at the beginning of next year. Salerno says Mac’s Hospitality is scheduled to open about two to three restaurants a year.

Mac’s has five locations in the Charlotte area, along with sites in Greensboro, Fayetteville, Wilmington, and Greenville. The restaurant serves signature barbecue favorites, such as pulled pork, brisket, and mac and cheese. SouthBound only has one location in Charlotte and focuses on Californian–Caribbean-Island fusions, with everything from tacos and burritos to Hawaiian ribs and Jamaican jerk wings. Other restaurants under Mac’s Hospitality Group include The Music Yard, BackStage Lounge, and The Studio.
