The owners of Jimmy Pearls have announced they are getting ready to leave The Market at 7th Street to open a new brick-and-mortar sometime next year.
Owners Daryl Cooper and Oscar Johnson started the company as a food truck before landing in The Market at 7th Street, offering Southern classics with a Virginia twist. The company recently announced on social media that it will be leaving the indoor market at the end of next month to focus on opening its first brick-and-mortar. While the exact location of the new restaurant is unknown, the fast-casual eatery is expected to open in mid-2024, first reported by Unpretentious Palate.
“We are on the move once more,” the company announced on its social media. “January 30th will be our last day at the Market at 7th Street as we transition into our journey towards a brick-and-mortar in 2024. In the meantime, we will have quite a few special events, places where you can find us shucking oysters and serving up some delicious future menu items. We’d like to thank the staff and management of The Market at 7th Street and Charlotte Center City Partners for giving us the opportunity to work our concept into the Market, gearing us up for the next level. Come by and see us before we head out! We’ve narrowed our menu down to all the fan favorites and will save all the extra fun items for later.”
Cooper and Johnson, both Virginia natives, have made Jimmy Pearls so well-regarded because of its locally sourced seafood. The new chef-driven, fast casual, coastal-inspired restaurant concept will continue to be mindful regarding its food sources. One of the restaurant’s most popular items is Uncle Gene’s Fish Sandwich, made with the daily catch, Jimmy’s sauce, hot sauce, and field pea slaw.
“We want to be that neighborhood spot — that’s always been our vision: being a dope neighborhood spot where people can come and kick back and enjoy our food, and we can expand the menu a little bit for those adventurous consumers that want an elevated experience, but still down-home in a way,” the owners tell Unpretentious Palate.
