Moo & Brew, one of Charlotte’s best places to grab a delicious burger and a cold beer, is getting closer to opening its Matthews location at 111 Matthews Station St.
The company’s second location was announced in 2021, but changes regarding the finances slowed the buildout, according to Charlotte Business Journal. Moo & Brew is expected to open the 3,700-square-foot restaurant sometime next month. While owners Zach Current, Ken Thomas, and Ryan Grant were forced to wait longer than anticipated, it allowed them to create a licensing structure for the brand’s future expansion.
When the new Matthews locations open early next year, customers can expect a menu that mirrors the flagship store at Plaza Midwood. The new space will also have a larger kitchen, which gives the owners more wiggle room with the menu, meaning the possibility of adding new menu items, including a weekly or monthly feature. While those items are still being worked out, customers can still expect staples, such as The Farmer’s Daughter burger and a build-your-own burger with various patty options, including a vegan black bean patty. On top of a handful of other bar classic appetizers and other delicious entrees, like sandwiches, Moo & Brew will offer 32 beers on tap and cocktails at the Matthews location.
While the menu and vibe of the restaurant will be identical, the space will have its own character, featuring design elements including reclaimed wood, copper bartops, a thin strip of mirrors, and plenty of bar-height tables. Other decor inside this 70-seat restaurant includes signature antique beer cans around the bar, a bull skull, a commissioned metal art piece, and a full-service patio with 60 additional people. Finally, a back porch beet garden will accommodate 100 people. Next, the company is looking into expanding into the Montford area in a freestanding building.
