Food Truck Tacos Rick-O to Slow Down for New Restaurants

Ricko's Kitchen and Ricko's NoDa are both expected to open in Spring 2024

After serving the community through a food truck, the owner of Tacos Rick-O is getting ready to open two new concepts in Charlotte.

The Mexican food truck will be having its last day at Hoppin’ South End on Sunday, March 10, according to a recent social media post. The food truck will continue to run throughout greater Charlotte but on a limited schedule. As a result, owner Ricky Ortiz will open not one but two new concepts in Charlotte, including Ricko’s Kitchen in Spring 2024 and Ricko’s Noda, opening sometime next month.

“BIG NEWS CHARLOTTE! We are expanding our brand and bringing two new, different, and unique concepts to the Queen City!” according to the company’s social media announcement. “While we shift our focus to those two projects, we will be stopping operations at the Hoppin South End location! The last day will be March 10, 2024, so make sure you come out and get some Tacos Rick-O! Thank you for all the love and support you guys have shown over the past 8.5 years!”

Ortiz was born and raised in Durango, Mexico, and was inspired by the bold street food flavors, according to the food truck’s website. The taste of authentic Mexican food is something he has always been passionate about, and now he is here to share his colorful culture with Charlotte through two new restaurants. When it opens, customers can expect various delicious Mexican food and drinks. Ortiz will continue to use the food drunk for catering and other events.
