Casa Aguilar, a local Mexican restaurant that features top entrees from Spanish countries with a Southern California twist, is getting ready to open a new location in Hickory at 2916 N Center Street.

The company’s newest location is set to move into the former home of SmallCakes Cupcakery and Creamery, according to a social media post at the beginning of the year. While owners prepare to open this location, they operate from a temporary drive-thru-only location at 1519 Highland Ave NE. Owner Sarah Canahai tells What Now Charlotte that she expects to open the new location in about two months.

When it opens, customers can expect a variety of delicious Mexican dishes, including tamales, elote, and plenty of taco options. A recent menu update posted on social media shows the restaurant will also offer a handful of birria-focused specials, such as a birria pizza, birria/ asada fries, birria ramen, and birria nachos. The restaurant also offers various drinks and sides, including churros, plantains, canned beverages, and more.

“We have received our permits from the city, our General Contractor has been chosen, and we are now shifting our focus to work mode to get our location opened!” according to a recent post on social media. “We thank Pho N Rolls for allowing us to train and perfect our recipes, but we will be closed there permanently to focus on our new location. We will now bring our community the true vision of Casa Aguilar.”
