Enzo’s Italian Market, considered one of Charlotte’s most authentic Italian Markets, is getting ready to expand throughout the area, including a new site in Matthews at 130 Matthews Station St.

The Stallings-based company’s third location is set to move into the former home of Beantown Tavern, which closed in early 2022 in the Depot Shopping Center, according to CharlotteFive. The new Enzo’s Italian Market is expected to open in Fall 2024, but this isn’t the only location in the works. Owner Greg Tigani is reportedly working on opening a fourth location sometime early next year, but the exact location is unknown.

Tigani bought the business from original owner Enzo LoRe in 2022 after the Sicilian native fell ill after serving the community for 13 years. When Tigani took over, he kept all the recipes and added more products, such as freshly baked bread and desserts. The founder’s good friend is getting ready to expand the business even more, this time adding espresso and gelato stations at the new location, as well as space for fresh pasta and mozzarella.

“When all is said and done, you’ll have access to a full-service Italian market with fresh produce, an osteria — a wine bar with a wide selection of Italian wines and liquors — and a full patisserie bakery,” Tigani tells the CharlotteFive. “It’s going to be quite the experience,”

Now, the business is doing better than ever, with the company’s second location in Lancaster set to move to a newer 4,500-square-foot space in the area. The new full-service Italian market will be significantly larger than the previous space at 210 N Park Drive. Tigani hopes to open the larger location on May 1, offering more space and offerings for its customers.
