A brand charcuterie-focused business called The Board Babe is getting ready to open its first storefront in the heart of Optimism Park in Charlotte.
The company, owned and operated by Taylor Lover, recently signed a lease to open its first brick-and-mortar for one of the interior/ alleyway spaces at The Joinery, an 83-unit apartment building that is in the process of wrapping up its second phase, according to Jason Thomas. The development features 17,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space at the corner of 21st and N. Brevard. Night Swim Coffee recently opened here.
The Board Babe, on the other hand, will take some time before opening. Lover tells What Now Charlotte that construction is underway in the space and should be completed in a few months. Once construction is complete, the business owner says the company will take a few months over the summer to transition slowly and will allow pick-up orders and catering. In the fall of 2025, The Board Babe will officially open as a storefront offering wine, beer, charcuterie, and other artisan treats.
This is a massive achievement for Lover, who began this company as a fun passion project in 2020. Since then, the business has grown significantly, attracting an audience that appreciates quality food, drinks, and beautifully crafted charcuterie boards. When the new storefront opens next year, customers can expect various styles of charcuterie boards that can be customized to their preferences. The Board Babe also offers catering and workshops.
