With roughly 1,300 locations in twenty countries, Cold Stone Creamery has been serving up “the finest, freshest ice cream, cakes, smoothies, and shakes” for more than thirty years. Soon, Clay County will have its first Cold Stone, opening in Fleming Island, at 1810 Town Center Blvd.
“We wanted to have a really family-oriented place,” co-franchisee Kimberly Britton told What Now in a phone call on Monday. “We’re local, and we have a family, and it’s something we want: somewhere that’s a nice place for families to go and relax and get a sweet treat.”
Kimberly and her husband Acesa Britton are first-time Cold Stone franchisees. For Acesa, in addition to a family friendly environment, there’s no underestimating the product.
“It’s for the love of the ice cream,” Acesa said, when asked what brought the couple to franchising with Cold Stone. “The joy it brings people, what owning a store can do for the community.”
The couple has deep ties to the Fleming Island area, both as local business owners and as community members actively involved in youth sports. It would be hard not to envision this—ice cream, young people, community building, sports—as a winning combination.
Cold Stone Creamery offers a build-your-own option for its ice cream, which is Kim’s approach: her current favorite combination is Sweet Cream ice cream with Heath Bar and caramel. Acesa goes with Chocolate Devotion, one of Cold Stone’s Signature Creations: chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips, brownie, and fudge.
Cold Stone Creamery is expected to open in Fleming Island in early 2023.
