In the town of Osaka, Japan, in 1999, a small bakery emerged that would soon capture the hearts and taste buds of locals. Its owner, Yuji Hirota, with his captivating fluffy white beard, affectionately earned the nickname “Beard Papa” from his loyal customers. This endearing figure would go on to create a treat as delightful as his persona, leading to the birth of the renowned Beard Papa’s cream puffs. Today, with over 435 locations worldwide, Beard Papa’s continues to enchant dessert lovers with its irresistible pastries.
Central to the success of Beard Papa’s cream puffs is Hirota’s commitment to perfection. He perfected the art of his pastries by crafting a unique double-layered puff featuring a tender choux on the inside and a delicate pie crust on the outside. To complement the exceptional pastry, Hirota concocted a luscious filling comprising a blend of whipped and vanilla custard cream. This harmonious marriage of textures and flavors became the hallmark of Beard Papa’s cream puffs.
To this day, Beard Papa’s stores faithfully employ Hirota’s original recipe, ensuring that customers can relish the same exquisite flavors that made the brand a household name. In addition to their beloved cream puffs, Beard Papa’s has introduced an array of new recipes to tantalize diverse palates, according to the company website.
