The rumors are true: Boston’s first cat cafe, A Sanctuary Cafe, is set to open in Beacon Hill this fall season. What’s a cat cafe you’re wondering? A cat cafe is a destination where guests will pay to relax and play with felines that are permanent residents in a designated part of the space.

Owner Brittany Baker is crafting the debut whiskers-friendly environment as a cozy hub for guests to enjoy locally sourced coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and other non-caffeinated beverages. Baker is also going to supply the cafe each day with a curated selection of freshly prepared baked goods by French Press, including the bakery’s beloved croissants and more.

Customers can currently engage with the business through its online bookshop with a mission of matching every book purchased with a book donation to a Boston Public Schools student.
