A Needham-based bakery is expanding to Wellesley with a second location.

According to The Swellesley Report, Le Petit Four, The Little Oven is taking over the former site of White’s Bakery in Playhouse Square at 380 Washington St.

“The new Wellesley space is perfect,” owner, French artisan, and self-taught baker Valérie Coullet told the publication in a recent phone interview. “I’d been looking for a long time for the right environment.”

Le Petit Four is known for its buttery, cooked-to-perfection croissants, as well as a variety of viennoiseries and breads. Regular offerings include apple turnovers, Kouign Amann, fresh fruit danishes, quiche, brioche tarts, muffins, pains au chocolat, cinnamon rolls, baguettes, cookies, and more.

Coullet is both a baker and a businesswoman, holding a double master’s degree in accountancy and organizational management. After a fifteen-year career in audit firms and technology companies, she decided to pursue her true passion and opened the bakery shortly after moving to the United States in 2018.

Coullet plans to transform the Washington St space, with construction slated to start soon. She’s targeting a fall 2024 grand opening. In the meantime, satisfy your sweet tooth by visiting the Needham location, or enjoy Le Petit Four’s offerings through their partnership with Captain Marden’s Seafood on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. and at Fells Market on Saturdays from 11 a.m.
