A beloved Roslindale Square brewery is closing at the end of the month, but it will soon be replaced by a new establishment.

According to a report from Universal Hub, Distraction Brewing Company is shutting its doors at 2 Belgrade Ave, making way for 13 Volt Brewing and Roasting.

Distraction opened in late 2019 just before the pandemic hit and will have its final day of service on August 31, 2024. The brewery announced the news on Facebook, stating:

The journey of opening and running a brewery during such unpredictable times has been an incredible adventure. After much consideration, we’ve decided to shift our focus to spending more cherished time with our children before they embark on their own journeys. The demands of the brewery have been significant, and we want to make the most of the precious years we have left with our family.

13 Volt Brewing and Roasting is expected to open sometime in 2025. It will feature coffee roasting, in-house food, and a variety of brews. Owner Josh Baker confirmed the upcoming venture with What Now Boston but noted that the deal has not yet been finalized.

“I will absolutely share details as soon as I can,” he said. “We’re very excited.”

UPDATE: On August 30, 2024, Distraction Brewing Company announced that the sale of the business to the 13 Volt Brewing owner will not proceed due to personal circumstances. As a result, Distraction Brewing Company will remain open and continue its operations as usual.
