It looks like a new restaurant will soon take over the former site of Somerville‘s beloved Rudy’s Cafe, which closed its doors on January 19, 2025.

Charlie Redd of Dragon Pizza in Davis Square is teaming up with business partners Doug Sherman and Bridget Zerner to open The Hollows at 248 Holland St in Teele Square, according to The Boston Globe.

While little is currently known about The Hollows, Redd told The Globe that the new eatery will serve as an approachable “neighborhood haunt” featuring “craft cooking” and is slated to open in the spring of 2025.

Founded in 1982, Rudy’s Cafe was celebrated for its variety of Tex-Mex dishes including nachos, tacos, Mexican pizzas, burritos, quesadillas, and enchiladas, all complemented by margaritas and tequila flights.

When reached by What Now Boston, Redd declined to comment on The Hollows.
