A group of family-operated Mexican restaurants is expanding to South Boston.

According to an update from the West Broadway Neighborhood Association Facebook page, Ocho Cafe will soon open its fifth location at 11 W Broadway, in the former Purple Shell space.

While a representative for Ocho briefly confirmed this news with What Now Boston, co-owner Edgar Brambila could not be reached for comment. However, patrons can expect a menu similar to the other locations, featuring classic Mexican fare like quesadillas, tacos, and burritos alongside an extensive margarita selection.

Ocho Cafe first opened in West Hartford, Connecticut in the summer of 2017 and has since expanded to three Massachusetts sites in Weymouth, Plymouth, and Westford.

WBNA reports that the South Boston location is aiming for a May or June 2025 opening, with plans to offer both lunch and dinner service.
