The concept is a passion project inspired by owner Joe Lalonde’s father’s Michigan-based ice cream shop of the same name.

Anna Maria Island is set to get a classic ice cream parlor dubbed Frosty Oasis located at 5602 Marina Dr. Suite C sometime this winter, depending on the construction and permitting process, according to owner Joe Lalonde.

“We’ve been residents here on Anna Maria Island for eight years now, and we’re just hoping to create a little community hub where people can come and hang out and get to know each other,” Lalonde tells What Now Tampa. “Our island is mostly vacationers now, so it can be hard to meet local people sometimes, and we’re hoping to foster that and have a place where local people can get to know each other.”

Lalonde, who’s opening the shop with his wife Andrea, says that Frosty Oasis will be more of a “classic ice cream parlor” specializing in hard serve, soft serve, and custard, along with Dole Whip and slushies.

While the Anna Maria outpost is not a “continuation” or extension, per se, Lalonde’s father does own a Frosty Oasis in Michigan, and he has been “instrumental in helping us along the way,” says Joe.
