Not far from Lake Wimauma, just west of the intersection between West Lake Drive and FL-674, a new breakfast place is preparing to open its doors later this spring. Round Up Cafe & Grill will open at 5206 FL-674, offering classic breakfast dishes, plus smoothies and health-focused foods.
“We’re hoping to open no later than May,” co-owner Janet Huerta told What Now on Monday.
Round Up’s classic breakfast choices will include pancakes, waffles, French toast, and eggs, in class American breakfast fashion, along with grits, shrimp and grits, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches. In addition, healthy choices like egg white omelets, vegetable-forward dishes, and smoothies with vitamins, protein, and other nutritional supplements will also be offered—and that’s where co-owner Rosie Torino comes in.
“[Rosie] has a nutrition shop,” Huerta said. The two have been friends since middle school, and have joined forces for this project. “We decided to go for a cafe, so we’re going to be combining the smoothies and teas with the breakfast food.”
Huerta says Round Up will fill in a breakfast gap in Wimauma.
“I’ve known Wimauma for fifteen, twenty years,” Huerta said. “There’s a lot of Hispanic culture, and the community has grown so much. There are a lot of Hispanic restaurants out there. And we wanted to incorporate a little American food, some waffles and pancakes.”
