Founded as a pushcart in Grants Pass, Oregon in 1992, Dutch Bros Coffee has since grown into a major contender in the coffee market, reaching more than 500 locations in more than 10 states. It’s now preparing to open a new location in South Tampa, according to recent coverage by That’s So Tampa. It’s the company’s first in the region.
The news comes from a report by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, which showed that the Oregon-based coffee shop chain had asked the city to rezone the property currently occupied by Ballast Point Car Wash. The proposed coffee shop that would replace the car wash is the standard for Dutch Bros: a 950-square-foot building with drive-thru and walkup windows and no indoor seating.
Dutch Bros offers a variety of coffee and tea drinks, along with branded drinks like the Dutch Freeze and the Dutch Bros Blue Rebel. Other drink choices have included the iced Nitro Cold Brew; the Birthday Cake Frost with almond roca, white chocolate, and confetti sprinkles; and the hot Golden Eagle (vanilla & caramel breve w/ caramel drizzle).
Opening at 3616 Ballast Point Blvd., Dutch Bros. will join a cluster of food and drink spots along South Dale Mabry Highway, including Papa Johns Pizza, The Ravioli Co., Victoria’s Restaurant, and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
