Talkin’ Tacos has come a long way since its food truck days. Launched in 2020, the rapidly growing brand continues to expand in South Florida and is now at work on franchise locations in Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville.

Tampa’s first Talkin’ Tacos location is slated to open in Spring 2024, franchisee Mohsin Hussain told What Now on Wednesday. Hussain is launching Talkin’ Tacos Tampa in partnership with Raheel Razzaq; their first location will open at 1819 E Fowler Ave. The two franchisees have multiple businesses across several industries and bring more than a decade of hospitality and restaurant management experience to the table.

“We saw the opportunity, and saw that it was a halal brand—and we both love Mexican food,” Hussain said. “Then we had the food and it was phenomenal. Mind blown. The best birria we’ve had.”

Talkin’ Tacos offers a menu with a versatile range: tacos come with proteins like Carne Asada, Mahi Mahi, Mushroom, and Southwest Chicken. There’s even a Crispy Hot Chicken Sandwich. But the source of the chain’s fame is its birria, which comes not only in tacos but also as a Birria Grilled Cheese, Birria Ramen, and Quesa Birria with Oaxaca cheese, onions, cilantro, and tortilla chips.

“We’re beginning the demo now, so we’re looking at a March or April opening,” said Hussain.
