University Corner, the retail center on the northeast corner of the Lorraine Road and University Parkway intersection in Lakewood Ranch, looks to be getting a Del Taco. Plans submitted by Freshmex FL, LLC show a new Del Taco in the works there, at 8429 Lorraine Road.
With more than 590 locations in more than 15 states Del Taco is “aggressively expanding across the United States.”
The menu at Del Taco’s Florida locations include Tacos Made Fresh like the classic Del Taco (Seasoned beef, fresh house-grated cheddar cheese, crisp shredded lettuce, and fresh diced tomatoes in a crunchy corn shell or warm flour tortilla), Epic Burritos like the Epic Loaded Queso Burrito (Loaded with choice of freshly grilled, marinated chicken or carne asada steak, Crinkle Cut Fries, signature creamy Queso Blanco, fresh house-grated cheddar cheese, and fresh house-made pico de gallo, wrapped in a warm, oversized flour tortilla. A Cali burrito with Epic queso flavor), plus quesadillas, nachos, salads, burgers, and more.
The company, which was founded by Ed Hackbarth and David Jameson in Yermo, California, got its start all the way back in 1964, when Hackbarth and Jameson were selling 19-cent tacos and 24-cent cheeseburgers.
What Now reached out to franchisee Tim Cloe to inquire about plans for a new Del Taco at University Corner. Cloe was not immediately available for comment.
