Greg and Keri Hayes are bringing their protein baked goods to Pikeville by way of Get Baked Seattle, coming soon to 1501 Western Ave Suite 302.
Get Baked Seattle is a protein-based bakery from the tastebuds of the husband-and-wife team born out of the need to make a delicious protein-based option for themselves. The entrepreneurs, formally in the fitness industry, launched Whey Better Cookie Company in search of the word’s best protein cookie — but “not only the best protein cookie, but the best cookie you’ve ever tried,” Greg Hayes told What Now Seattle in an interview on Wednesday. “The whole point of food is to enjoy it, not to just meet your macros. It’s still a cookie. It’s just a better, bad choice.”
The duo began with wholesaling their Whey Better Cookie Company products and eventually opened a retail bakery in Michigan. But it wasn’t until their brand was being sold at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island that gave them the inspiration for the move out West to Pikeville.
“It’s a great spot near the expanding cruise ship port with a lot of foot traffic,” Hayes said of the new location near Pike Place Market. With the move, the duo decided to change the company’s name to Get Baked Seattle.
Seattle’s newest protein bakery will be a 1,300 square foot retail space serving the brand’s classic and gourmet cookie options along with its mini-peanut butter cups and other various protein-packed treats, each with 25 to 35 grams of protein on average. “We wanted to use actual food ingredients and then load it with protein,” Greg said. Get Baked Seattle’s items have about a two-week shelf life.
The pair will soon be offering up their protein-filled baked goods in Pikeville “no later than” April 1, 2023, Hayes said.
