A representative of Macrina Bakery & Cafe did not immediately return What Now Seattle’s request for comment.
The idea for Macrina Bakery was created long before its doors opened, with founder Leslie Mackie’s passion for bread and community taking root during her early restaurant career and travels.
Macrina Bakery follows the model of traditional old-world village bakeries, using regional ingredients to create unique and rustic European bread and baked goods. With a focus on using regional ingredients, Macrina Bakery creates unique and rustic European bread and baked goods that celebrate the flavors of the Pacific Northwest. One of the highlights is their signature house bread, Macrina Casera, which is designed to complement all types of foods and can be enjoyed at any meal.
Patrons can also look forward to the bakers at Macrina Bakery committing to enhancing the natural flavors of the grains they use. They strive to source as many indigenous products as possible, including organic grains and natural ingredients. Northwest apples, potatoes, cranberries, and hazelnuts, as well as wheat, rye, barley, and buckwheat flour, are also carefully selected to craft their baked goods.
