A Cookie Plug location will be opening soon at 3830 N. Loop 1604 E. in April, as a part of a multi-unit franchising deal that will bring the hip-hop themed cookie store to a San Antonio audience for the first time. Franchisee Michael Guzzetta confirmed that at least four more locations are on the way, with one planned for Houston St. in the Downtown area.

“Pun intended—Cookie Plug definitely not cookie-cutter,” says Guzzetta. “It’s edgy, it’s delicious, it’s got a very cool hip-hop and street-art vibe to it.”

The brand specializes in “thick” cookies and boasts fifteen unique flavors and a new cookie each month., baked fresh daily. Despite launching recently in 2019, Cookie Plug has seen exponential growth with over 30 locations built out and dozens more debuting soon.

With freedom to open up shop anywhere in San Antonio, Guzzetta says he is eyeing potential locations all across the city, from The Rim to New Braunfels for the remaining three spots. He hopes to have all five eateries operational by next year.

Guzzetta is looking for small-footprint retail locations—less than 1,000 square-foot—to drive a quick and efficient development of the chain’s grab-and-go style service.

“Our plans are pretty aggressive because we’re confident in the operations and the product,” Guzzetta says. “We think it’s going to really hit home with San Antonians.”

If all goes well, Guzzetta says he is open to expanding beyond the initial five-unit deal, and bringing more Cookie Plug locations to the city.
