A new steakhouse is coming to Hondo this summer. According to public records, Shea’s Restaurant is taking over 1020 18th Street — which local readers may identify as the Fohn-Bless Store, a building recognized by the Texas Historical Commission.

Nearby eateries include El Restaurante Azteca, HonDough Pizza Company, and Luigi’s Italian Restaurant.

What Now San Antonio briefly spoke to Chase Curtis, a representative for Shea’s, to inquire about this exciting new development in Hondo. When asked about the future establishment’s culinary profile, Mr. Curtis simply said: “steakhouse.”

Unfortunately, Mr. Curtis did not provide further detail. Nevertheless, the permit application provides some insight into what’s to come.

Interior renovations on the 3,200-square-foot space began on February 1 and are slated to wrap up in July. The Hondo-based architecture firm Paddle Creek Design is executing the project, and its estimated cost is $250,000.

An opening date has not yet been announced, so check back soon for additional updates.
