According to public records, a new restaurant called Tacos El Prieto hopes to take over a vacant, freestanding space at 543 Ruiz Street. The property was previously home to Mexican eateries Flor de Puebla and Elsa’s Restaurant, and is about a 13-minute drive from the San Antonio International Airport.

What Now San Antonio was unable to reach the owner of Tacos El Prieto, Rebeca Ortega, before the time of publication. Nevertheless, a recent property listing shares a bit about the space.

According to the listing, the building is single-story and 1,840 square feet. The transition shouldn’t be too challenging — a vent-a-hood, sinks and a few prep tables came included. Additionally, it has the capacity for 24 seats indoors with 14 parking spaces.

While the menu hasn’t been disclosed, according to a pending permit application, the restaurant does not intend to serve alcohol upon opening.

An opening date has not been announced, so check back in later this spring for additional updates.
