An entrepreneur behind various successful Sichuan restaurants in San Antonio is debuting a new eatery next year at Hemisfair Park.
The concept, which was approved by the San Antonio Historic and Design Review Commission on Wednesday of this week, is taking over the historic Kusch House and will be called Kusch Faire.
Founder Kristina Zhao, the restaurateur behind DASHI Sichuan Kitchen + Bar and Sichuan House, tells What Now San Antonio that Kusch Faire will offer grab-and-go options and items from her family’s nearby Asian Market that are suited for the park environment, as well as traditional Sichuan plates for patrons that want to stay and enjoy a meal.
She shares, “My team and I are beyond honored and excited to bring a Sichuanese-Chinese concept for operation at the Kusch House” — adding, “The Hemisfair family has been very kind and supportive, and we have been in alignment with the organization’s vision to create one of the world’s great public spaces.”
Before opening in the summer of 2024, the building will require additions and renovations made possible in part by a $750,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.
Kusch Faire is slated to open sometime during the summer of 2024. Until then, follow Hemisfair on Facebook and Instagram for additional updates.
