American pastry company and coffeehouse chain Shipley Do-Nuts is planning to expand — bringing handcrafted do-nuts and kolaches to a new outpost in San Antonio.
According to a recent construction permit application, the franchise is taking over a 1,586-square-foot space at 2407 E Evans Road — near eateries such as Arby’s, San Poke, and YuFeng Asian Cuisine.
Franchisee Chea Bophan tells What Now San Antonio that the outpost is set to open in six to twelve months, but was unable to provide additional details before the time of publication.
Nevertheless, the permit application provides additional insight.
The filing describes the job as “the interior tenant fit-out of a cold, dark Shell” and details that construction is slated to begin on August 23, to be completed by December 23. For an estimated $225,000, design firm Oculus Inc. will carry out the renovation.
Born in Houston in the 40s, over the last 80 years Shipley Do-Nuts has grown to operate on the national level, with over 350 stores throughout the United States — 19 of which are in San Antonio.
A specific opening date has not yet been announced, so follow Shipley Do-Nuts on Facebook and Instagram for additional updates.
