Gastropub Francis Bogside will soon reopen at 1170 E. Commerce — taking over a space formerly home to Smoke: BBQ, near eateries such as Pastiche, Smoke Texas Downtown, and Toro Kitchen + Bar.

Formerly located at 803 S. St. Mary’s Street, the restaurant announced its intention to move last summer, not long after the property was purchased by F & J Heierman Building Ltd.

At the new address, Francis Bogside is already serving patrons in a soft-opening capacity, reports the San Antonio Current — offering a minimal drink menu that includes cocktails, beer, and wine, as well as snacks such as loaded potato skins, wings, and pizza.

A much larger space than the previous one, Francis Bogside intends to expand dining options to include a late-night light menu after its official opening. The drink menu will also be enlarged, soon offering a wine program and a selection of mezcal and tequila. However, the ambiance will remain the same — patrons can expect the “warm wood tones, stained glass accents, and leather-clad seating” familiar from Bogside’s St. Mary’s Street days.

According to the Current, Francis Bogside is also planning to open a basement space — though details on this are still sparse.

The grand opening date hasn’t yet been announced, so follow Francis Bogside on Facebook and Instagram for additional updates. In the meantime, visit the eatery between 4 p.m. and 2 a.m. from Tuesday through Sunday.
