American pastry company and coffeehouse chain Shipley Do-Nuts is planning to expand — bringing handcrafted do-nuts and kolaches to a new outpost in San Antonio.

According to a recent construction permit application, the franchise is taking over a 2,000-square-foot suite at 8915 Bandera Road — across the road from Smashin Crab and Bahama Buck’s.

Franchisee Wasim Khawja of Breaktime Donuts, LLC tells What Now San Antonio that while his business already operates four locations throughout Houston, this will be the company’s first outpost in the San Antonio area.

The filing describes the job as an “interior tenant build-out” and details that construction is slated to begin on September 6, to be completed by November 6. For an estimated $249,540, the Houston-based design firm The Interfield Group will carry out the renovation.

Born in Houston in the 40s, over the last 80 years Shipley Do-Nuts has grown to operate on the national level, with over 350 stores throughout the United States — 19 of which are in San Antonio.

Shipley on Bandera Road is slated to open this December. In the meantime, follow the chain on Facebook and Instagram.
