"We were excited because it’s right in the middle of what’s happening in downtown San Antonio. With the urban growth, it’s really a no-brainer for us,” shares a co-owner.

Northeast San Antonio’s Hops & Hounds, an eatery known for serving American food in a dog-friendly environment, is planning to open a second location in the city.

Landing riverside at 1123 Avenue B, the restaurant will soon neighbor establishments such as El Camino SA, River Sun, and Commonwealth Coffeehouse & Bakery Jones.

According to last year’s report by SA Heron, the restaurant — a Hixon Properties development — will be built from shipping containers and boast a kitchen, bar, and coffee shop. Found on a 1.5-acre vacant lot, an outdoor seating area, and, of course, a dog park will also be available.

“We are attracted to urban settings,” Co-Owner Lee Beekly told the publication — adding, “When Hixon came to talk to us, we were excited, because it’s right in the middle of what’s happening in downtown San Antonio with the urban growth. It’s really a no-brainer for us.”

Similar to its flagship location, Hops & Hounds will serve hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and nachos — as well as craft cocktails, frozen margaritas, and two dozen draft beers to wash it all down.

Hops & Hounds is slated to open this December. In the meantime, follow the restaurant on Facebook and Instagram.
