According to a recently submitted permit application, Smoothie King is expanding in the San Antonio area — planning to open a new outpost in Castroville.

Coming to 915 US Highway E Castroville, the smoothie shop will land near establishments such as Bush’s Chicken, Sonic, and Walmart Supercenter.

What Now San Antonio reached out to franchisee Mark Huffstutler to inquire about the upcoming location, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, with more than 1,400 outposts across the nation, the chain has an established business model — a destination for customizable smoothies to match any occasion.

Drawing from the filing, the remodeling of the 1,800-square-foot drive-thru space is scheduled to begin on October 23 and to be completed by May 15. For an estimated $200,000, local firm Architectura SA will carry out the project.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so follow Smoothie King on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
