According to a recently submitted construction permit application, a new bar is coming to 3971 FM 32 in Fischer, taking over a space formerly home to live music venue Riley’s on the Backbone Resurrected.

The filing states that the 7,500-square-foot building will undergo renovations — which include adding a kitchen, two stairwells, and a second-floor bar and bathrooms — before reopening as The Honey Suckle.

What Now San Antonio contacted the upcoming concept’s owner, Ryan Mailloux, to inquire about his plans for the establishment, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, public records show that construction will begin on December 1 and be finished by June 28, 2024, costing an estimated $1,500,000 in total — with Wimberly-based firm Tilbrook Architects PLLC carrying out the project.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
