According to a recently submitted permit application, international chain Acai Express plans to debut a new outpost in New Braunfels at 650 I-35 — landing near establishments such as Los Cazadores, Tellus Equipment Solutions, and Tractor Supply Co.

What Now San Antonio contacted the upcoming location’s franchisee, Dora Humphrey, to inquire about the expansion, but she could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing offers further insight.

Construction of the 1,469-square-foot eatery will begin on February 1 and wrap up by May, costing an estimated $300,000 to complete.

For readers unfamiliar with Acai Express, the franchise was founded by Héctor Westerband in 2013. “Today, Açai Express has 34 stores open in Puerto Rico, Florida, New Jersey, and South Carolina, with 24 more stores in the pipeline of franchisees that are in the process of opening,” the business’s website shares.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
