According to a recently submitted permit application, San Antonio’s winery and restaurant In Contrada Vineyard & Kitchen is undergoing renovations.

For readers who are unfamiliar with In Contrada, the business — found at 27490 Smithson Valley Road — offers an introduction on its website: “In our artisanal winemaking process, we meticulously craft small batches, producing only 60 gallons or 300 bottles per batch. Every vintage is hand-bottled, corked, and labeled to ensure the highest quality.”

The space offers “inside dining in addition to covered outside seating in the vineyard” where patrons can “find gazebos, sun shades, misters, and fans.”

What Now San Antonio reached out to the concept’s owner, Ed Sullivan, to inquire about the expansion, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing offers further insight.

The renovations — which include tearing down the “existing brick oven building” and rebuilding to a kitchen with two attached restrooms, as well as a new storage room — began on March 1 and are scheduled to be completed by December 31. Local firm Delgado Engineering is carrying out the job for an estimated $200,000.
