Something new is brewing at a longtime beer business in Detroit.
The new concept called Meantime is planned for 3409 Cass Avenue in the space formerly occupied by the beer shop and taproom 8 Degrees Plato.
Meantime comes from an experienced team: Elliot Hoffman, Erik Annonson and Brittney Carnahan. The experience of Hoffman and Annonson includes tenure at Cøllect and Eastern Market Brewing Co.
A recent event at Florian East gave visitors a preview of Midwest Leisure, a beer made in collaboration with Florian East. The Czech-style Pilsner will be a flagship beer at Meantime.
Meantime plans to offer a membership program where members can receive discounted beverages and attend parties and events.
8 Degrees Plato owners Tim Costello and Brigid Beaubien closed the business in December 2024, announcing their retirement from the beer business. The store had been operating for about nine years.
“As rewarding as owning and operating the Detroit store is, it is now time to us to move on with our lives,” they wrote in a social media post.
