A local couple is working to bring global flavors to Grosse Pointe Woods.
Pangea Global Kitchen is under construction now, Grosse Point News reports. The space at 20083 Mack Avenue was formerly occupied by Lyla’s Catering.
The restaurant comes from Murad Abusoboh and Alison Rybicki Abusoboh. Pangea Global Kitchen evolved from the Abusobohs’ catering company called Abu Lawrence Catering. It will offer some dine-in seating, but mostly operate as a takeout business.
According to the news outlet, the menu is expected to feature cuisine from Murad’s native country of Jordan, along with authentic food from other countries around the world. Menu items could include sandwiches, soups and salads, featuring both prepared dishes and grab-and-go options.
The name of the restaurant is a reference to the ancient supercontinent Pangea, which connected nearly all landmasses on Earth.
“Just as Pangea united the continents, the store unites culinary traditions, bringing together vibrant, authentic foods from across the globe to our local community,” according to the restaurant website.
Pangea Global Kitchen could open future locations down the road. The owners also have visions for a food truck.
For now, the location in Grosse Pointe Woods is expected to open soon. It will be located between Ashby’s Sterling Ice Cream and Viviano Flower Shop.
