A longstanding burrito spot is opening a second location.

According to Boston Restaurant Talk, downtown Boston’s Viva Burrito is expanding to the city’s Fenway neighborhood at 92 Peterborough St, taking over the former El Pelón Taquería space. Owner Ali T. confirmed this news with What Now Boston, expressing excitement about the new location.

Founded in 1995, Viva Burrito is known for its counter-serve global-fusion burritos and colorful ambiance. The eatery also offers nachos, quesadillas, fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, tortas, and bowls, as well as fresh salads and hearty chicken soup. Ali noted that the Fenway outpost will serve the same menu as the original.

Beyond burritos, Ali and his family also own The Helmand in Cambridge, a cozy Afghan eatery specializing in marinated lamb, kababs, and other traditional dishes.

Viva Burrito’s Fenway location is set to open in the coming weeks.
